SITIO BATACAN IS NOW ENERGIZED | AUGUST 05, 2024

On August 4, 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in Sitio Batacan, located in Brgy. Pinamihagan, San Jose, as the community was energized. This initiative directly benefited fourteen (14) households, marking a transformative change for the residents. The majority of the beneficiaries are members of the Aeta community, an indigenous group in the Philippines. Their happiness and relief were palpable as they experienced the positive impact of having reliable electricity for the first time.

This vital program was made possible through the funding and support of the Government, under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP). The program’s implementation was overseen by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Tablas Island Electric Cooperative (TIELCO). This collaborative efforts are focused on delivering free electricity to citizens living in remote and underserved areas, thereby enhancing the quality of life and fostering development in these communities.

The introduction of electricity is expected to bring numerous benefits, including improved educational opportunities, better healthcare access, and overall economic growth. It signifies a step towards bridging the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring that even the most isolated communities can enjoy the advantages of modern amenities.

The energization initiative in Sitio Batacan was spearheaded by the diligent and dedicated employees of TIELCO in San Jose under GM Dennis L. Alag. The event was graced by the presence of the esteemed Mayor of San Jose, Mayor Egdon Sombilon, who, along with other officials and community members, attended to demonstrate their unwavering support for the Aeta community.
