The test operation of the 7.7 MW capacity newly installed Diesel Power Plant located in Bgy. Doňa Juana, San Agustin, Romblon was succesfully undertaken today between 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm having a test load of over one megawatt covering a portion of Feeder 3 and Feeder 1 consisting portions of the Municipality of Sta. Maria, San Agustin and Calatrava. Initially, the test conducted was made on island mode where the operation of the San Agustin Power Plant was isolated from the SUWECO Main Plant in Odiongan and also that of the Solar Plant. Later at 3:30 p.m., the San Agustin Power Plant was synchronized to the Odiongan Power Plants and both test was successful.
The test operation was witnessed by Romblon Lone District Congressman Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, Vice-Governor Arming Gutierrez, San Agustin Mayor Denon Madrona, Vice-Mayor Norman Fatalla and the Sanguniang Bayan Members of San Agustin. Also present are officials of TIELCO headed by General Manager Dennis L. Alag, ESD Manager Amante Jandoc Jr. and COMD Manager Fred Siscar. The test protocol and presentation of the operational parameters of the Power Plant was presented by SUWECO AVP Operation-OIC Engr. Rey Pole and Engr. Jonathan Singian, Project Manager for Construction. The ceremony was hosted by SUWECO Admin Chief Mar Greg C. Noche.
The construction of the San Agustin Diesel Power Plant is part the recently won bid of SUWECO for the 13.7 MW Intermediate, Peaking and Reserved requirement for Tablas Island where part of the contract requirement is the construction of Power Plants in three different locations in addition to the existing Diesel Power and Solar Plant located in Odiongan, Romblon. The other plants are to be constructed in Sta. Fe and Alcantra, Romblon. The construction of these power plants are intended to stabilize voltage in the far end of the system, address the growing demand and to improve service reliability to the end users
